Impressive Win for SA Hockey

The SPAR Hockey Festival at the University of Stellenbosch Astro Complex ended with a spectacular win for the home team, triumphing 5-1 over Canada.  SPAR South Africa was thoroughly impressive on the night showing how much they have improved as a consequence of sustained international exposure.

The 2-0 score line reflected fairly upon the SPAR SA ladies as they ran out deserved winners on Wednesday against Ireland in the SPAR Hockey Festival at the University of Stellenbosch Hockey Complex.

Britain Dominate for 2-1 Win

South Africa promised much after a convincing display against the Olympic champion, Germany, last week, but flattered to deceive on Monday and allowed Britain to dominate second-half possession and win the match in the Spar Hockey Festival by 2-1 on the Astro Turf Complex of the Stellenbosch University.  

Best Hockey Festival Result

A last-gasp effort by the German goalkeeper, Yvonne Frank, robbed South Africa of what would have been a well-deserved victory over the third ranked team in the world in the Spar Hockey Festival at the Stellenbosch University’s Astro Turf on Wednesday.  The teams drew 2-2.

SA Humbled by Holland

The Dutch team won the final match of their South African tour in convincing style by beating South Africa 5-0 in the Spar Hockey Festival at the Stellenbosch University Astro Complex on Tuesday.

World Champs for Hockey Festival

Stellenbosch will be the centre of attention for all hockey lovers towards the end of this year and early in 2007, when 22 international matches will be played in the SPAR Hockey Festival at the Stellenbosch University Sport Performance Institute.  

Tough Warm-up For SA Women

The SPAR South African women’s team have lost all three of their warm up matches against Australia in Barcelona, as they prepare for the Women’s Hockey World Cup in Spain.  

Marescia to Lead World Cup Team

Johannesburg, Tuesday, 29th August 2006 – The South African Hockey Association (SAHA) has announced the SPAR South African Women’s Hockey Team to participate in the 2006 Samsung Hockey World Cup which takes place in Madrid, Spain from the 27th September to the 8th October 2006.
