FC Indiana coach Shek Borkowski has hinted in Lafayette, Indiana (USA) that there will be new additions to the 2008 squad – but dismissed suggestions that any large-scale rebuilding work is to be expected.
“With these players added to some high-quality players already at the club, I think we all expect the team to be even stronger than our title winning squad of last season.
“With the strength we have in the squad, I am hopeful that the new arrivals will soon settle and start performing right away.
“I expect us to make a couple of further additions to the squad in February, and we will have a look at three South Africa players Lena Mosebo, Rose Jijane and Veronica Phewa. Their agent Fola Dokunmu, director of Sports Midfield Agency has highly recommended them to our club and I am eager to see what they can do.
Borkowski stated that South Africa national team has not been a major player in the world of women’s soccer but “there is a tremendous latent potential in South Africa.
“Their players need the experience at the highest level and could regularly push to compete in the biggest competitions,” said Borkowski.

I am over the moon for them,” SAFA’s Banyana Banyana Team Manager Fran
Hilton-Smith told gsport on Monday. “I recruited all of them to Banyana
and in Lena’s case Basetsana at a young age.
“Rose
and Veronica were only sixteen at the time, and Rose played first in
1998 in Nigeria in the 1st African Women’s championships, and when we
lost in the semi-final. She cried so badly, I knew she had the heart
for the game and commitment! She is the most capped Banyana player
followed by Veronica,” said Hilton-Smith.
“All
have been totally committed to the team over the years,” continued
Hilton-Smith, “And I could not pick three more deserving players to
have this wonderful opportunity.”

the signings of Adjoa Bayor of Ghana and Ifeanyi Chiejine of Nigeria,”
FC Indiana coach Borkowski said, “I am convinced we will start the
season with a much stronger squad of players than that with which we
ended last season.
FC Indiana will begin pre-season on February 25th with as many as 11 internationals who played in the 2007 World Cup in China.
