FC Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas was crowned The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year winner at the 2022 FIFA Football Awards, which were held in Paris on Monday, 27 February 2023.
Putellas was honoured with the prestigious award for a second year in a row, after a successful year which saw her club win a third successive league title.
In other categories, Mary Earps was voted The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper after a year in which she lifted the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 with the Lionesses.
In the Best FIFA Women’s Coach category, English national team’s manager Sarina Wiegman won the prestigious accolade after leading the Lionesses to European glory and her second successive UEFA EURO title.
