Angola have won gold for the 15th time after a dominating performance at the 2022 Africa Women’s Handball Championship in Dakar, Senegal.
This was the 25th edition of the competition, which took place from 9-19 November and acted as the qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Women’s Championship – the top four teams qualify for this global showpiece.
In the final, Angola pulled off a spectacular 29:19 victory over Cameroon, in a rematch of the final from the 2021 edition, when they secured the title with a 25:15 scoreline.
In the bronze medal game, Congo beat Senegal (20:19) and won their first medal since 2008.
Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Senegal will represent Africa at the 2023 World Women’s Championship.
