ASA Announces Squad to Compete at African Games

Athletics South Africa have announced the squad that will represent the country at the African Games in Zambia from 29 April to 3 May 2023.

Medley/Relay, Heptathlon, Walk, Javelin, Hammer, Shotput/Discus, and Long Jump/Triple Jump will all be competed in by the U18 squad.

The competition, which includes the second African U18 and U20 combined championships, is the fourth African U18 Championship and the 15th African U20 Championship of the CAA.

U18 SA Squad:

Timeke-Jade Coetzee – Long Jump/Triple Jump

Alicia Khunou – Shotput/Discus

Anje Holtzhansen – Hammer

Anil Engelbrecht – Javelin

Lee Nyathi – Walk

Cara Smith – Heptathlon

Reabaka Matshitse – Medley /Relay

Sandri van Rooyen – Medley/Relay

Zante van Merwe – Medley/Relay

U20 SA Squad:

Anje Nel – 400mH/4X400m

Shanese De Klerk – High Jump

Shannon Purchase – Pole Vault

Pheletso Mashilo – Long Jump

Johani van Tonder – Triple jump

Ashley Erasmus  – Shotput/Discus

Merinda Cronje  – Javelin

Ciliethe Julies – Hammer

Janise Nel – Walk

Roline Louw – Heptathlon

Kayla le Grange – 4x100m

Natasha Gertenbach – 4x100m

Jessica van Heerden – 4x400m

Michaela Thomson – 4x400m
