Athletics South Africa announced yesterday that a provisional squad of 24 men and women athletes have been selected for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, which will take place in Mombasa, Kenya, on 24 March 2007.
The provisional team of eight athletes each category, have been selected for the Senior men 12 km, Junior men 8km and junior women 6km races.
The athletes in the squad have been performing well at the recent ASA Cross Country Challenge meetings, and they booked their places with solid performances at the SA Cross Country Championships at Witbank.
The squad will compete in the Southern Region Cross Country Championships in Malawi on 24 February 2007.
These Championships will also serve as the final trials, before the final team is selected for the World Championships.
