Dubbed "the Oscars of sports journalism", the 2008 SAB Sports Journalists of the Year Awards has opened for submission of entries for an event which has established itself as the most prestigious awards for journalists covering developments in the world of sport over the past 28 years.

The 2007 awards are for work produced between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2007, and various categories make it possible for journalists from a variety of media to enter. Categories include Print and Internet, Radio and Television (comprising sub-categories) as well as the Judges Hall of Fame and Most Media-Friendly Sports Personality of the Year, which is nominated by the sports media. Category winners receive R15 000 each and sub-category winners R3 000 each.

All individuals are invited to submit their work or nominate others’ work, including editors, managers, colleagues and the panel of judges themselves. The awards dinner will take place in Johannesburg on Thursday 8 May 2008.

For more information about the awards and to download an entry form, go to Ledimo Solutions website. Entries close on 31 March 2008.
