Taylon Bieldt, Zeney van der Walt and Tsoane Sebele top performed in their respective categories at the Athletics South Africa Grand Prix Continental Tour Challenger at Tuks Athletics Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday, 12 April 2023.
Bieldt of Tshwane University of Technology, was excellent in the 400m hurdles, winning in a time of 56.54. Gezelle Magerman followed in second in 57.35 and Anje Nel concluded the top three in 58.35.
In the 200m race, Botswana’s Tsoane Sebele secured gold in 23.92s in what was a nail-biting race between her, Bongiwe Mahlalela and Kayla le Grange.
Le Grange eventually managed to finish in second place (24.00s), while Mahlalela came in third (24.09s).
In the 400m event, Zenéy van der Walt clocked a new Personal Best – a time of 50.81s – which sees her qualify for the World Championship in the 400m and 400mH events.
Line Kloster took up second place in 52.15s, while Marlie Viljoen claimed third in a time of 52.25s.
