The final day of the 20th Annual Bodyboarding Championships was an incredible sight, as the country’s top contenders fought for the glory of being named this year’s South African Champion.
The stage was set early in the day in Uvongo, but a thick South Coast mist prevented the event from starting.
Eventually the air cleared and the final day of competition was underway.
After a thrilling final day of hot competition, the results ended as follows:
The Girls U16 final was dominated by the Southern Cape region with 3 of the 4 finalists, having their entire girls team make it to the last round.
Kina Meyer (SC) claimed the top honour, followed by team mate Geline Derbishire (SC), Boland rider Hermien Greyling (BOL) took third, and Monica Olivier (SC) took fourth.
Hot Women’s favourite for the title Lize Marie Ras (SC) had to take a back seat to local Inga Pieters (SKZN), who claimed this year’s title.
Ras placed second with Western Province rider Pamela Bowren in third, and Robyn Sorenson (CKZN) in fourth.
