Despite the typical Cape winter weather outside, the spectators were treated to some exciting and entertaining netball over the two days

This year’s tournament received two blows when Gauteng-Central and SWD withdrew from the tournament at the last minute.

20090617Netball2Boland was off to a flying start and lead 7-0 in the first quarter when the WP finally joined the party with impressive interceptions and good defence.

However, the bizhub Boland displayed character and experience under pressure and in the end the final score was 36-31 in their favour.

Despite the loss, the WP Management Team was impressed with their team’s performance since this was the first opportunity they’ve had to play together against quality opponents in a tournament situation.

The bizhub Boland team welcomed back Liezel Wium and Christine Markgraaff who put in solid performances for their team.

With headline sponsor bizhub, and other sponsors and prizes from Spar, Champion, Sarie Magazine, Nike, Indigo Cosmetics, Sportsman’s Warehouse and Good Hope FM on board – they helped to make this year’s tournament the most successful yet.

It has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, and is not only a highlight on the Boland Netball calendar, but other regions’ just love coming to play in a quality and well organized tournament.

Other division winners included:
Division B:  Khomas A (Namibia)
