University of Johannesburg held their annual UJ Sports Awards at the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg on Thursday, 17 November 2022.
The university rewarded student-athletes who competed, represented and won medals for Team South Africa in highly recognised international sport events.
2022 Momentum gsport Awards Ministerial Recognition of Excellence recipient Caitlin Rooskrantz was crowned the Age Group Sportswoman of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year.

Rooskrantz finished third to earn a bronze medal in uneven bars at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
She also won a gold medal for Team South Africa after she was crowned the senior WAG African Champion on bars at the 16th Annual African Artistic Championships.
Other winners on the night included the senior women’s football team who walked away with the Team of the Year Award for winning the 2022 FNB Varsity Football women’s tournament and the Engen Champ of Champs.

Michelle Moganedi, who was selected to represent South Africa at the IWBF Afro World Championship in Ethopia to speak on Africa Wheelchair Basketball players and the development of the sport on Swaziland, was crowned the Sportswoman of the Year.
