Saturday’s racing saw accolades claimed by SA tricyclist Madre Carinus, who won silver in her road race in a dramatic sprint, nudging Lisette De Heide from the Netherlands into third place by a mere 0,02 seconds on Sunday.

This was Carinus’ second medal in the competition after winning a bronze medal in Friday’s time trail, and South Africa’s third medal after her team-mate Gerhard Viljoen claimed silver in Friday’s T2 TT.

The Para-cycling team now moves to Schenkon in Switzerland for a few days of training ahead of the Schenkon Handcycling (H) and Tricycling (T) Championships this coming weekend (2nd and 3rd June).

The Schenkon Championships is a category P1 event, and has the greatest number of participating riders in the H- and T classes of any event internationally.
