Coastal Challenge Heats Up

In the Coastal Women’s limited overs league this weekend, KwaZulu Natal women will earn four critical points care of a withdrawn Limpopo side in the first of their two away scheduled weekend matches, a bonus before a tough visit to Pretoria on Sunday to take on top-of-the-log Northerns at home.

Their unlikely rivals for second spot, KwaZulu Natal Inland are also on tour this weekend, initially to out-of-form North West in Potchefstroom on Saturday, and then to Gauteng in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Should they intend contesting the semi-finals, KZN-Inland will be aware of the 10 log points currently separating them, with only two home games against Gauteng and KZN in March to come.

Fourth-placed Gauteng have a mathematical opportunity of beating both Natal sides to join a likely Northerns as the Coastal Challenge’s two semi-final entrants, but they will have to exhibit turn-around performances away to those two sides and the North-West, while the remaining home match against Mpumalanga should garner four points, weather permitting.
