South African athletics duo Dominique Scott and Carina Viljoen completed a second and third finish, respectively, at the Carlsbad 5000 race in Southern California on Sunday, 22 May 2022.

Scott crossed the finish line in a time of 15:48 in the 5km race, while Viljoen rounded up the top three in a time of 16:00.
While, Ethiopia’s Biruktayit Degefa claimed first prize, winning in 15:29.
2022 has been an incredible year on the track so far for Scott who made headlines at the ASA Track and Field Championships in Cape Town when she emerged victorious over double Olympic champion, Caster Semenya in the 5000m race.
