The Zimbabwean Cricket Board announced the appointment of former international player, Gary Brent, as head coach of the women’s cricket team on Monday, 7 March 2022.

Brent takes over the coaching role from Adam Chifo who held the position since May 2017.

Under Chifo’s tenure, Zimbabwe qualified for the ICC World Cup qualifiers in 2016. They, however, failed to make it to the event after Zimbabwe was suspended from the ICC for government interference.

Post his playing career, which include playing 4 Tests, 70 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s, Brent obtained his ECB 3 coaching license.

In the team, Mary-Anne Musonda and Josephine Nkomo retained their posts as Lady Chevron’s captain and vice-captain, respectively.
