Led by Natalie Grainger, the world number 4 player, Gauteng registered their first victory in six years when they edged through 16-9 against Northerns. Grainger dropped only two points against National Champion, Farrah Sterne, and second string Diana Argyle defeating Sonia Pinter in four games.
The National under-19 champion, Cheyna Tucker, clinched the third Gauteng win when she outlasted Vivienne Doeg in five games. For Northerns Sonika Fritz and Cara Willoughby accounted for Adel Weir and Sharon Le Roux respectively.
Western Province annexed third position after defeating Easterns 20-3, while the Ransome Trophy (B section) was won by Eastern Province B who coasted to a 17-5 win over KwaZulu-Natal B.
