Yesterday more than 1000 boys and girls descended on St Davids Marist Brothers College in Inanda, Johannesburg, to attend the Bakers Mini Cricket Festival, organised by the Gauteng Cricket Association.
Untimely rain may have dampened the proceedings, but not the little ones’ enthusiasm, as “We Love Cricket” cries sounded around the event.
gsport was delighted to see the number of girls in attendance, forming part of teams and even including some teams made up only of girls!
Members of the Proteas team in attendance at a special signing ceremony included the prolific Justin Kemp and newcomer Loots Bosman, and predictably both were quickly swamped by delighted supporters of the men’s national squad.
Bakers Mini Cricket has been running for over 24 years with great success with National stars, Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini and Mark Boucher, all products of the program.
