Golf Digest has announced that its Woman Golfer of the Year award has
once again gone to Ashleigh Simon, at its annual BMW Golf Digest Awards
at the Grand Roche Hotel, in Paarl on Friday, 14 December.
Simon’s career has been on an upward path since she won the South African Open as a 14-year-old, and in her final South African Amateur appearance at George, she broke numerous records, and became the first player to win the double of SA Amateur trophies on a third occasion.
Turning pro on her 18th birthday in May, within a short time she had won as a professional on the Ladies European Tour, at the Catalonia Ladies Masters in Spain. Awards were also presented to key performers, both professional and amateur, in South African golf during the past year.
