Over a hundred girl children were treated to scrumptious snacks and hot chocolate on a cold day inCell C CEO Jeffrey Hedberg welcomed the students to Cell C with great charisma and charm in true Mzansi style, and cautioned the girl children to learn, but not to be afraid to ask questions, even difficult ones.
Then Cell C’s Chief Corporate Officer, Zeona Motshabi spoke eloquently about the rights which us women inherit, but also the obligations we share, in continuing to encourage every girl child in
“It’s ultimate achievement lies in the successful mobilization of the private sector,” said Motshabi, “(For) Government and the public to encourage the youth, and particularly girl children, to develop a sense of responsibility and an understanding of the importance of professional interaction, in ensuring success for their generation in the workplace and the greater economy.”
The audience then welcomed gsport Editor Kass Naidoo as guest speaker for the occasion, who expressed her appreciation to Cell C for putting out such a powerful message in support of women.
Accompanied by Keshnie Nair, a student at
Mirrored across the nation, hundreds of public and private companies, as well as public-sector organisations, were reportedly busy implementing unique and exciting programs for the benefit and learning experience of the girl learners they will be hosting at their places of work, as part of this national campaign.
Cell C believes that workplace tours and presentations are vital to orientate the “for one-day only employees”, while the emphasis is on real-life work experience and exposure, through sharing and performing some of the duties of the professionals the girls will be shadowing.
