It’s no small task trying to organise an awards ceremony, now putting it together during the current challenges we are facing as a world due to a global pandemic made it seem impossible but the amazing team at gsport pulled it off like they always do every year.
I have been attending the Momentum gsport Awards since 2017 and the standard of the event was elevated to a new level this year.
I was asked to assist at the awards by gsport Founder, Kass Naidoo. Knowing that this would be a great opportunity for me to learn more and be a part of celebrating the amazing women in sport, I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the team.
Little did I know Kass used this request as a way to get me to the awards so that I could be presented with the first ever Miss Congeniality accolade!
Now before I go any further, I have to share with you how interesting it was to experience the awards in a different way…
Due to the Lockdown restrictions, every safety measure was taken and this year the awards would be held with no guests just the winners of each category.
The gsport Team gave every winner the chance to wear one of the stunning gowns from Just Tonight Josephine! Seeing every single lady arriving in their gowns brought so much elegance to the event.
When we arrived at Vision View Productions, the gsport Team and Momentum pulled out all the stops to make this year’s awards just as vibrant and special like every other year. We were treated to the famous Momentum Red Carpet which was hosted by Rachel Makhura who effortless ran the red carpet.
Winning Miss Congeniality at this year’s #gsport15 was a special honour for me. I’ve always looked at how gsport has been advocating for women in sport and didn’t wait for someone to tell our stories as women in sport but rather started a platform for all women in sport to share their stories and #SheOwnsHerSuccess.
It’s for that reason that I always share and celebrate every win and every moment that happens in women’s sport. We need to constantly have every story and every moment out there in the mainstream news and in the world so that more and more people can learn about the incredible women who making waves in our sports industry.
I would like to thank Kass, gsport, Momentum and all the women in sport who came before me for making it normal to celebrate every achievement and every win.
I will always celebrate women in sport, and I will always be ready to shout from the mountain tops about the greatness of our women in sport.
