Gudaf Tsegay Leads Ethiopian Clean Sweep at World Athletics Indoor Champs

Gudaf Tsegay posted a new championship record of 3:57.19 in the 1500m race at the World Athletics Indoor Championship in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday, 19 March 2022.

World Athletics Indoor Gold series 1500m winner, Axumawit Embaye took silver in 4:02.29 with Hirut Meshesha third in 4:03.39 to complete an all-Ethiopian podium finish.

This is the first time a country sweeps all medals in any event at the World Indoor Athletics Championship.
