Hey gsport family! Today, on August 1, 2023, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement as we celebrate 17 incredible years of gsport’s journey in empowering women’s sport! From its humble beginnings, gsport has been dedicated to raising the profile of women’s sport and breaking down barriers for our exceptional sportswomen.

Making Strides Together

Throughout the years, we’ve made remarkable progress in closing the  gap for women’s sport through increased media coverage. We are humbled by the support and recognition we’ve received from esteemed partners, including Brand South Africa, Momentum, and Telkom. These collaborations have been instrumental in amplifying the stories and achievements of our talented female athletes on a global scale.

We take immense pride in the milestones we’ve achieved along this journey. From securing SPAR as our first Naming Rights partner for the gsport Awards in 2012 to earning the endorsement of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture as the country’s premier women’s sport recognition platform, each milestone has been a testament to the collective effort of our gsport family.

As we embrace The Year of Women’s Sport, we are more determined than ever to elevate women’s sport to new heights. With our all-women sports newsroom and dedicated team led by award-winning Content Lead, Celine Abrahams, we’re committed to providing round-the-clock editorial coverage of women’s sport. Together, let’s continue to support and celebrate our sportswomen and teams as they write the next chapters of success!

A Bright Future Ahead

To our gsport family, partners, readers, and contributors, we extend our deepest gratitude for joining us on this extraordinary journey. It is your unwavering support that has fuelled our passion and dedication to championing women’s sport. Let’s keep playing our part and empowering women in sports, together!

Here’s to 17 years of breaking barriers and uplifting women’s sport, and to many more trailblazing years ahead! Let’s celebrate this special milestone with joy and a renewed commitment to making a difference in the world of women’s sport!
