Banyana Banyana international Jermaine Seoposenwe has signed a two-year contract with Las Rayados del Monterrey, as announced on Thursday, 22 June 2023.
The 29-year-old forward joins Rayados after spending a season with FC Juarez Femenil where she etched her name in the record books by scoring the fastest goal in the history of the Liga MX Femenil league. She found the back of the net in just 8 seconds in the match against Necaxa Femenil.
“And just like that another journey comes to an end! Today I bid farewell to @fcjuarezfemenil. I want to thank the club for the opportunity. Together we made history, and I know the people of Juarez will always remember that. I want to wish the club and it’s fans everything of the best for the future. Gracias a todas!” Seoposenwe said on her Instagram social media page.
Rayados understands that the team’s attacking prowess gains a new spark with the addition of Seoposenwe, and the move is a crucial one in their quest for success in the upcoming Apertura 2023 tournament.
In another post on Instagram, Seoposenwe wrote: “Incredibly proud to announce that I’ll be joining @rayadas. I want to thank the club for the opportunity, and I cannot wait to start this new journey with you. I hope it’s filled with lots of success.”
Over the years, Seoposenwe has built an impressive football career. She has proudly represented South Africa’s Woman’s National Team and played a key role in Banyana Banyana’s triumph at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations where her skills and determination contributed to the team’s success.
She was also named in the preliminary squad of 36 players which will be trimmed down to 23 before the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which begins on the 20th of July 2023 until the 20th of August 2023.
