Sport Presenter and Anchor Julia Stuart was honoured with the SuperSport Woman in TV accolade at the 2021 Momentum gsport Awards, a year later, she went on to host the prestigious women’s sport recognition event.

On Wednesday, 14 September, Stuart who dazzled the stage in a gold stunner by Just Tonight Josephine, kept guests entertained as women in sport were honoured for their achievements.

A day before the event, Stuart hopped onto an IG Live with gsport Content Lead Celine Abrahams in an engaging conversation.

She started off with commending the gsport Trust and the work the initiative has done to advance women in sport over the years.

“Often people say that we need to change the culture of woman’s sport and gsport has successfully done that from within, so to be a part of it on any way is a massive honour.

“gsport is fostering a different kind of energy around women,” she added.

The SuperSport presenter went on to express what it meant to her to be recognised on the gsport stage as it forced her to take a moment to celebrate herself and her journey thus far.

“We don’t stop and acknowledge. As women in general we move from one thing to the next. We always chasing our next achievement. The biggest gain for me was honestly a personal one where I had to stop and say to myself ‘Well Done’.”

The award-winning sports broadcaster went on to share tips on how to prepare yourself for live TV for those are beginning their careers in the industry.

“Firstly, no one needs to know what is going on behind the scenes. You need to keep calm. The audience will only know that you made a mistake if you let it show. Secondly, pretend you are talking to someone you know. You are telling them a story, this will help calm the nerves. Lastly, have fun in the moment.”

In closing, Stuart shared that she would like to anchor a FIFA World Cup one day, who knows Qatar might be the tournament!
