Some 40 tennis juniors will congregate at the Riaan Venter Tennis Academy in Vanderbijlpark this weekend, in an attempt to earn one of four combined vacant spots in the South African team for the Nike Junior Tour International Masters.
The International tournament will be played in Turin, Italy, from October 22 to 26, and will comprise teams from 21 countries.
Of the youngsters who will be participating this weekend, Kaylea Sher has already experienced playing at the International Masters, when she was the Under-12 representative two years ago in Nice, France.
The players earn points by participating in local events, and the top eight girls in each age group, as well as two wild cards, qualify for the NJT SA Masters, but only the winners get the trip to Turin. The finals will be played on Tuesday.
