South African off-road racer Kirsten Landman is one of three ladies that will compete in the Moto category at the 2023 Dakar Rally, which will take place in Saudi Arabia as announced on Thursday, 24 November 2022.
Landman will be racing bike #90 and will be competing in the Original by Motul Class – Malle Moto category.
The “Original by Motul” category refers to bikes and quads competitors, competing without any kind of assistance.
In 2020, the now 31-year old became the first African woman to finish the world’s toughest off-road race on a bike.
Landman has been riding since the age of 8 and her professional career was set in motion at the age of 22.
In 2021, she was forced to pull out of the race after testing positive for Covid-19.
