Today, 1 August 2022, has been an incredible day for the country’s leading women’s sport recognition platform as women in sport showed their gratitude with gsport ticking off 16 years of closing the visibility gap for women’s sport.
The celebrations, however, had already started off at our first ever gsport Business Breakfast on Friday, 29 July, as sport stars got onto stage in song and blew out candles on a specially made cake which sported our glitzy gsport logo.

Co-captain of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations champions Banyana Banyana’s Refiloe Jane lead the birthday messages, saying: “I would like to take this moment to wish gsport a very happy 16th birthday! All the best for the future.
Her national teammate, goalkeeper Andile Dlamini thanked gsport for continuously backing women in sport: “Thank you so much for supporting women! Keep flying the flag high, we appreciate it as women athletes.”
2021 Momentum gsport Awards Woman in Social Media winner, Lesego Pooe has always been grateful towards the platform, which has paved the way for many young stars in the sport industry.
“I just want to wish gsport a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY! They’ve been championing women’s sport for years now and I am wishing them the very best, may they continue to grow in leaps and bounds.”
Echoeing Pooe’s sentiments, gsport Writer Lonwabo Nkohla said: “From a beautiful baby to a beautiful young lady! The impact it has, words cannot accurately describe. True to the brand, it’s advocacy for women in sport shall forever speak the loudest. Happy Sweet 16 gsport!”
