There are only four questions of value in life:
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for?
What is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same – only love
.’

Don Juan DeMarco

It is said by the wise ones that love is the force that holds this universe in manifestation and that love forms the foundation of all of creation.

Love the Foundation

Love is the origin and foundation of all relationships:  between mother and child, between husband and wife, between lovers and between close friends.

Bonding with another gives one a sense of belonging; the feeling that we are significant, important and loved.

Through being loved and bonded to another we are able to establish trust – both in ourselves as well as in others.

Without bonding and nurturing we cannot realize and become ourselves.

Everlasting Love

Clarissa Estes teaches that to love also means to embrace and at the same time to endure many endings and many, many beginnings – all in the same relationship.

This is how love relationships are meant to work, with each partner transforming the other.  Slowly we come to realize that love is not just about sweet roses, romantic sunsets and singing angels.

Love can also wound you and break your heart, leading you to the grief within yourself, however, ultimately you are left stronger, bigger, more compassionate, with an expanded ability to give and receive love.

The Challenges of Self-Love

And as we grow outwardly, so too must we grow inwardly.  When we are able to love and nurture ourselves, especially the parts of us that are not beautiful, we develop the ability to send love outward with a power and a clarity we did not know we were capable of.

The ability to love one-self directly impacts on the ability to love another.  We begin to understand that love is indeed a circle with no beginning and no end.

The thought of turning love inward, as we look into our own eyes, can bring up many feelings of inadequacy within us.  Often we do not feel worthy of love and we convince ourselves that self-love is selfish and even narcissistic.

Sitting quietly and contemplating our ability to love ourselves will often lead us back to our own childhoods where perhaps we did not receive the love and nurturing we needed.

We may have to untangle and free ourselves from the thorns and briars that keep us believing that we are not loveable.  Self-esteem is simply knowing that we are worthy of love.

Speak to My Heart

Self love enables an inner dialogue to develop, helping us to understand our own unique needs.

It is self love that gives us the impetus to seek, and then ask for help when we need it, whether this is in the form of receiving health related therapies,  nutritional advice, emotional counseling or even soul guidance.

Through self-love we begin to connect to our wisdom, our strength and our beauty.

Your love is your divinity always guiding you towards yourself.

May your journey be blessed.
