Showjumpers from around the country were gathered at Mistico Equestrian Centre in Western Cape for the Renegesis Vet South African Youth Championship.
Straight from the Kuda Xmas Show where she found the going tough finishing eleventh in the J/A 1.00m competition, Lunathi Mdlungu was one of the top performers at the South African Youth Championship.
The Gauteng pony rider made it on the podium seven times. Lunathi together with Waterside Double Date played an instrumental role in helping Gauteng Showjumping claim the top honours in the open show pony team, and the open show riding team.
In the individual section, Lunathi and Waterside Double Date took the Yard PR Open over 1.42m show riding pony honours to Gauteng. Olivia Thomas and Wohlstand Luna of Lagos and Annabel Noakes and Dobson & Equibox One and Only settled for second- and third-place finishes, respectively.
Once again in a show of dominance Lunathi took the gold medal in the open working riding over 1.42m before Annabel Noakes and Dobson & Equibox One And Only overturned the tables to claim a first-place finish in the Equestrian Affair PR Open over 1.42m show pony whilst Lunathi and Waterside Double Date had to be content with a silver medal.
The good and smart-thinking rider and Waterside Double Date went on to claim the championship in the open show pony show riding, and a silver medal in the Brockenhurst Equestrian PR open pony championship behind Annabel Noakes and Dobson And Equibox One And Only.
