Marione Fourie Sets New SA Record in Switzerland

South African 100m hurdler Marione Fourie smashed her Personal Best as she set a new South African record at the LA CHAUX de FONDS Meeting in Switzerland on Sunday, 02 July 2023.

Fourie smashed the record in the first round heats with a time of 12.55s, she went on to win the final later in the day with a time of 12.80s.

Her results saw her break the national record of 12.76s set by her compatriot Tayla Bieldt just four weeks earlier.

“I had hoped to run 12.70, so I was amazed when I crossed the line and saw my time. It is a moment I will remember for some time to come because I could not believe what I had achieved,” Fourie, told TuksSport.

“I was certainly not thinking about setting a record. I was only hoping for a breakthrough race,” she concluded.
