Shauwn Mkhize, affectionately known as “MamMkhize” has made a massive move and added a women’s side to her club Royal AM.
Following their first season in South Africa’s top-flight league after buying the Premiership status of Bloemfontein Celtics, Royal AM has gone another up and acquired the status of Bloemfontein Celtics FC Ladies and renamed it Royal AM Ladies.
As if that’s not an incredible step for the flamboyant businesswoman, it’s also been revealed that Royal AM Ladies have already secured a sponsor. Mkhize confirmed that World Sports Betting will support the team and work alongside them in Corporate Social Investment projects.
“World Sports Betting are going to partner us with CSI, and support the women’s team. But they won’t be involved in the A team.”
“Worlds Sports Betting is going to play a crucial role in Royal AM.” she confirmed. “With the increase in investment, sponsorship and development, the long term goal is to level the playing field with our male counterparts.
Warren Tannous, CEO of World Sports Betting says:“As a company we are excited to get behind the Royal AM Ladies team, there has never been a better time than now to get involved in women’s soccer. Supporters can look forward to great promotions and campaigns in the months to come”.
The now former Celtic Ladies side is set to relocate to KZN and continue playing in the Hollywoodbets Super League, now as Royal AM Ladies following the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) approval of the franchise’s change of name as well as their home ground.
Under the new name and leadership, Royal Ladies find themselves fifth on the log standings after 12 matches played in the Super League.
With the growth of women’s football taking a steady rise, this will bode well for the women’s game as we have seen with their men’s side, the Royal AM franchise means business after they finished 3rd in their first season in the elite league.
