Nitch a Notch above the Rest

Softline ACCPACC Women’s Open Squash Championships
Wanderers Club, Johannesburg

Claire Nitch, who will captain the South Africa team in the Women’s World Championships to be played in Edmonton, Canada in September, captured the Softline ACCPAC Women’s Squash title when the finals were played at the Wanderers Club on Sunday.

Nitch was always in control in the straight game final against top seeded Diana Argyle winning 9-2 9-7 9-4.

Northerns’ Viv Doeg took third place when Farrah Fenner, the tournament promoter, was forced to withdraw because of injury.

1- Diana Argyle bt Aluscha Botha 1-9 9-1 9-4 9-7

2-Farrah Fenner (N) bt Cheyna Tucker 9-4 10-8 9-2

3-Claire Nitch bt Sharon Le Roux 9-6 9-0 9-0

4-Viv Doeg (N) bt Lindy Jordaan (E) 9-3 9-2 9-2

Semi-Finals:

Argyle bt Doeg 3-0;

Nitch bt Fenner 9-7 9-4 ret.;

Final:

Nitch bt Argyle 9-2 9-7 9-4

B Section Final:

Tracey Le Roux bt Maryna Aucamp 9-1 9-4 9-7
