It was a low-scoring semi-final day in Pretoria on Saturday, when Northerns beat KwaZulu-Natal and Boland beat Eastern Province to book their places in the Cricket SA Women’s Provincial T20 Competition Final.

In the first match, Northerns were restricted to 87/5 with A Steyn unbeaten on 52 to help her side to this modest total. KZN captain and coach, Dinesha Devnarain, took two wickets for 18 to keep the pressure up.

In reply, KZN could not produce the same batting strength as the opposition. Devnarain top-scored with 28, but M Kirk and M Semango took 2/5 and 2/11 respectively to help secure their side’s seven-run victory.

EP did not put up much of a fight when they took on Boland in the second match. They were restricted to 72/6 in their 20 overs. Alicia Smith made quick work of the chase, returning unbeaten for 41 despite J Nel’s 3/5, to win by five wickets.

EP and KZN will play the third and fourth place play-off match on Sunday morning as a curtain-raiser to the Final. The play-off match starts at 9:00am, while the Final will start at 14:00.
