Banyana Banyana star Noxolo Cesane has signed with Mexican side Tigres Femenil as they seek to reinforce their squad following the exit of Nigerian forward Uchenna Kanu.
The 22-year-old joins Tigres for five months after leaving French Club Stade Reins, where she had signed a deal for a year. Before that, she played for Hollywoodbets Super League side University of Western Cape.
Cesane tweeted after the story broke: “VAMOS @TigresFemeni!!! I can’t wait for the new experience and as well as seeing you.”

Expected to boost the Mexican club’s side, she will be the first South African in the history of the U de Nuevo León and the fifth African in the history of the club.
Cesane, who hails from Gugulethu made her debut for the South African senior women’s football team in 2019 and was part of the Banyana Banyana team that won the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July in Morocco.
The midfielder played a big role in helping Desiree Ellis‘ charges win the tournament.
President of Tigres Mauricio Culebro is excited by the acquisition, “This player also works on the wings and has virtues such as speed and approach that make hiring her an attractive piece.”
As Banyana Banyana gear up for the World Cup later this year in New Zealand and Australia, this will bode well for Cesane and the African Champions.
