Olympic and Paralympic Stars Receive Prize Money Incentives

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, hosted invited guests for a Medallists Bus Parade and Recognition of Excellence Gala Dinner to honour medal-winning and record-breaking Olympic and Paralympic stars at the University of Pretoria High Performance Centre (HPC) on Thursday, 30 September 2021.

Mr Mthethwa handed over prize money to the athletes for their impressive achievements at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The most celebrated honouree was swim sensation, Tatjana Schoenmaker and her coach, Rocco Meiring for her 100m and 200m breaststroke victories, as well as her 200m World Record.

The talented Bianca Buitendag earned recognition for her silver medal-winning performance in the surfing event.

Anrune Weyers and her coach, Suzanne Ferreira were recognised for her 400m T47 gold medal performance.

While, Louzanne Coetzee and her team, including coach Gertruida Siebert and guides, Estean Badenhort and Claus Kempen all received prize money.

Women’s 400m T37 bronze medallist, Sheryl James and her coach, Gideon Joubert, concluded the prestigious event.
