Peninsula Through to Final

Even if log-leaders Peninsula lose to B-Section whipping-girls Free State on Friday, their qualification for Saturday’s final is beyond doubt.

In Thursday’s first game, Border led Peninsula 1-nil for about 35 minutes, care of Lee-Anne Keet, but conceded a 64th minute penalty-corner by Vida Ryan to settle for a draw against the favourites.

Next up Free State sunk to a second 8-0 defeat in two days, this time with Witwatersrand taking the 3 points for a win to stay in contention for a place for the final.

Free State remain at the bottom of the log without a point in the tournament, and look unlikely to improve that record against Peninsula tomorrow.

Eastern Province took a 1-0 half-time lead in their match against KZN Mynahs to a 4-1 full-time victory, with their goals coming from Diane Jonker (2), Roxanne Pullen and Jenny Jones.

With five points after 4 matches, Border is out of the reckoning for a finals play-off on Saturday, but Witwatersrand will have to have to win against KZN’s Mynahs with 6 clear goals to contest the final with Peninsula.
