As we look ahead to the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced that its administrator Ms Potso Mohami has been appointed as the General Co-ordinator (GC) for the upcoming showpiece.
The football administration protégé, Mohami, will be responsible for the same group Banyana Banyana is in, along with Nigeria, Burundi and Botswana in the Moroccan capital of Rabat.
Having joined SAFA a decade ago, Mohami is making great strides in continental football. She was appointed as a General Co-ordinator for COSAFA and CAF tournaments and was also part of the CAF delegation when Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies lifted the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League trophy in November 2021 in Egypt. Mohami was one of the only two coordinators during the aforementioned tournament.
Her compatriots, Banyana Banyana, will be looking to make history in their quest to win their first ever AWCON gold medal and Mohami will be in action to add some always favoured, South African flavour.
Desiree Ellis and her charges battle perennial nemesis the Super Falcons of Nigeria on the 4th of July 2022 at 22:00pm. The hosts Morocco open the tournament on Saturday, 2 July 2022 with a clash against Burkina Faso.
