South African international football star Thembi Kgatlana has received a heartfelt message from her new club, Racing Louisville FC, after rupturing her Achilles tendon on international duty at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
On Monday, 11 July, Banyana Banyana team doctor Rodney Mokoka confirmed that Kgatlana will take no further part in AWCON after sustaining an injury in their last Group C tie against Botswana in Rabat on Sunday.
A heartfelt message was shared by Kgatlana’s team on Twitter, saying: “We were heartbroken over the weekend to see Thembi Kgatlana suffer an injury while on international duty.

The 26-year-old recently signed a two-year deal with an option to extend with the USA-based side.
