After deliberating all morning, event organizers for the Roxy Pro Gold Coast have opted to keep South Africa’s Rosy Hodge and her world top surf competitors waiting another day, and to make the official call off of competition on Tuesday.

The first events of the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour season, the Roxy Pro has already enjoyed two full days of competition before calling lay days for the past two, after conditions failed to improve, while the women’s Expression Session went ahead.

Hodge scored 11.07 in her first round heat competing against Brazillian Silvana Lima (who obtained an impressive 14.83) and Claire Bevilacqua (AUS, who was relegated to a second round after scoring 6.53).

Hodge goes up against the talented Rebecca Woods, who also had to qualify through the second round to stay in the competition’s contention, where she was awarded an inspired13.50 to go on ahead of Claire Bevilacqua and the USA’s Karina PEtroni, who failed to advance.

"We’ve been waiting all morning, but the tide and swell haven’t quite cooperated enough for us to run any official competition today," Brooke Farris, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager, said.

"The swell is projected to increase over the next few days, so we’ve looking at getting underway as soon as possible. That being said, we’ve going to send the ladies out at 1:30pm for their expression session, and we’ll be looking forward to seeing who’s ripping."

Event organizers will meet again at 7am on Wednesday morning, to see if competition will be on.
