The SPAR National Netball Team beat the Gauteng Thunderbirds, 45-30 in the third of a series of matches against five of South Africa’s strongest provincial and league sides in the country as preparation for the Cosana Games.
In the first match of the tour at the Paarl Gymnasium School in May, the team beat the Western Cape Tornados 59-44. In July the team beat the Eastern Cape Comets 50-31 at the NMMU Indoor Sports Centre in Port Elizabeth.
Yesterday’s match against the Thunderbirds in Randburg would have given new coach, Burta de Kock, her first opportunity to have a look at the strength of the team as she readies them for the Cosana Games in Malawi, running from September 10-19.
