The SA Women’s hockey team concluded their four-match Summer Test Series against India with a 3-0 loss at UCT Astro grounds in Mowbray, Cape Town on Sunday, 22 January 2023.
In the opening game, SAW struggled against the world number 8 ranked Indians, only scoring a goal in the third quarter when a penalty was rewarded to South Africa. Kristen Paton’s shot deflected the ball to Quanita Bobbs who fired a shot into the net pass India’s goalkeeper. The final score for the opening match was India 5-1 South Africa.
In the second test that was played in the blistering heat of Cape Town, the ladies struggled to find themselves in India’s half during the first two quarters of the game, but in the second half the ladies fought hard but that was not good enough as India walked away with a 7-0 victory. This gave the visitors a 2-0 lead in the four match series.
South Africa looked to redeem themselves in the third test, as their defence proved to be slightly improved. But, it was not enough to keep the Indians out of the South Africans shooting area as the picked up a 4-0 victory.
In the final game, South Africa put on a huge fight concluding the game with a 2-2 draw against India at full time.

Third Test: SA 0-4 India
Fourth Test: SA 2-2 India
