South Africa’s Sarah Ghabrial beat Nigeria’s Chizoro Nwookacha to emerge as champion of the U-15 women’s individual épée at the Cadet and Junior African Fencing tournament in Lagos.

The 14-year-old defeated Nwookacha 15-12 in the final, claiming her first-ever continental medal.

Egyptian trio of Maya Shalash, Loulwa Abdelrahman, and Hana Eleraky dominated the podium in the U-17 women’s individual épée event before claiming the team épée gold medal.

Berne Beukes, Sarah Ghabrial and Mpho Mohlala all from South Africa finished 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively.
