2007 Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge champion Sarah Muhl is set to defend her title on Sunday.

Sara Muhl, winners of the 2007 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge, will be back on Sunday, 2 March, to defend their titles in the 55km leg of the event, and she will be among 3,500 mountain bikers battling it out on the vast expanse of Boschendal Wine Estate this weekend.

Thousands of other entrants will test their skill and endurance on the 55km, 35km, 26km and 13km routes, while their supporters will be able to sample some of the great food and wine on sale at Boschendal.

"We have always been very proud to being able to keep this a family affair," says Arina Botha, co-organiser of the MTB Challenge.

"As the route isn’t really conducive to on-the-route spectator support we place great emphasis on providing the supporters at the Boschendal ‘home base’ with a great entertainment.  We are therefore excited to announce that top SA band, DNA Strings will perform at the event on Sunday!"

In addition to relaxing on the sprawling lawn while listening to the soothing sounds of DNA Strings, supporters can also visit the gift shop and eateries on the estate, enjoy the delicious food and beverages on sale or walk through the estate’s exhibition vineyard.

Entries have now closed for the event, and entrants can register at the new Cycle Lab (Northgate Island, off the N1/M5 interchange) on 27 February (12 – 6PM) or on 28 February (9AM – 6PM), or at the Dirtopia Trail Centre at Delvera Farm (R44 between Klapmuts and Stellenbosch) from 12 to 6PM on 29 February, and from 9AM to 3PM on Saturday, 1 March.
