England’s Scarlett Hale has entered her name into cricket history, becoming the youngest umpire to make her international debut in Rwanda.
Hale is part of the officiating team at the Kwibuka T20 tournament, where she went onto break new ground in the sport.
Sharing the news on her Twitter, Hale said: ‘’I can’t believe it! I have become the youngest, the Youngest Umpire, to make the International debut at 18!’’.
On 10 June 2023, Hale officiated her first international game between Botswana and Rwanda.
Previously, Anna Harris at the age of 22 was the youngest official to officiate an international game.
The ninth edition of the 2023 Kwibuka Women’s T20 competition began on 10 June and will end on the 17th.
