Sinethemba Mbatha is a rising star who is cementing her place in the sports industry. She is living proof that a dream can become reality when you are willing to put in the work.
Mbatha first graced our screens in December 2019 when she was a guest presenter on Sport at 10 on SABC Sport and has recently co-hosted the SABC Sport Olympics special, Tokyo Delight, alongside seasoned broadcaster, Andile Ncube.
Tokyo Delight is a show that takes viewers on the Olympic journey by not only giving the them the latest updates on the Olympics but explores the Japanese culture.
“Anyone that knows me knows fully how long I have been trying to get myself back into broadcasting, so when SABC came through with this gig, I did not even hesitate to take it,” Mbatha shared with gsport.
She feels that her journey is coming full circle as she once auditioned at SABC Sport in 2013 but was unsuccessful.
“I went to my first audition at the age of 19 in 2013 at SABC Sport and being back here, like how many years later?! From 2013 to 2021 and I am back here hosting a show. God is real, God listens, and God keeps his promises,” she added.
Mbatha has been enjoying her two weeks on the show, taking in every moment, and learning as much as she can to hone her skills.
“I am excited to be here. I am excited about the growth, excited about the experience and I am working with a wonderful person, Andile Ncube who is constantly helping me to get better. It has been an exciting two weeks of the Olympics and being in front of the camera. I can see that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life,” she gushed.
The presenter is also SAFA’s Media Manager for the U23 men’s national team and was meant to join the side in Tokyo the Olympics but due to circumstances beyond her control, she was not able to join them.
“The opportunity came at a time when I was actually supposed to be leaving with the u23 National team to Tokyo for the Olympics, but a lot of things happened surrounding that, so it came at just the right time,” she concluded.
