South African international netball stars, Sigi Burger and Zanele Vimbela, went head-to-head in the opening of the Vitality Netball Superleague on Sunday, 23 February 2020.

Burger’s London Pulse team beat Strathclyde Sirens 53-51; however, it was GoalKeeper, Vimbela, who walked away with the Player of the Match award.

The match took place in front of a sold-out crowd at Arena Birmingham as Burger dominated the court, maximising opportunities and sunk several quick-fire goals for London Pulse.

Vimbela, who was on the losing end, had some comfort in knowing that she had bagged the first Player of the Match award for her team in the first match for the 2020 season.
