Stacey Bregman rejoins Ashleigh Simon and Laurette Maritz on the Ladies European Tour, where the Catalonia Ladies Masters brings nine of the Ladies’ European Tour’s top ten players to Club de Golf Masia Bach.
Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Monserrat in the town of Sant Esteve de Sesrovires, the South African golfers join an elite field of 40 competitors, comprising the top 30 players from the final New Star Money List in 2006, with 10 sponsor’s invitations.
The three-day event takes place from the 15-17 June, with no cut, allowing each of the players to share in a €200,000 (R1,913,729.69) prize fund, with €58,500 (R559,765.94) for the winner.
In addition, the players have the opportunity to win a Porsche Boxster if they can become the first player to hole-in-one at the par-three 16th.
The top nine from the current New Star Money List who are assembled at the Jose Maria Olazabal designed course include current European number one Bettina Hauert; European number two Trish Johnson; Australia’s Nikki Garrett, ranked third; defending champion Gwladys Nocera of France; Spain’s Paula Marti; Australia’s Sarah Kemp; Wales’ Becky Brewerton; England’s Rebecca Hudson and France’s Sophie Giquel.
Also in action is England’s Lisa Hall, the recent Northern Ireland Ladies Open champion.
South Africa’s newest rookie pro, the 18-year-old Ashleigh Simon joins Marti, the top-ranked Spanish player, who will strike the first ball in the tournament at 11.15am on Friday, after both players received invitations to play in the event.

Marti is aiming to become the first non-French winner of the Catalonia Ladies Masters, since it became an officially sanctioned tournament on the LET schedule in 2004, but she will have to overcome Simon among other eager golfers.
The tournament is proud to be supporting the Johan Cruyff Foundation, which aids children with disabilities through actively involving them in sport.
