Fireworks are expected on Saturday, 23 November 2019 when log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will take on second placed Tshwane University of Technology in a top of the table clash in the SAFA Women’s National League.
Dubbed the clash of the weekend in women’s football, Sundowns will welcome TUT at Chloorkop in an earlier kickoff of 13h00. Both teams haven’t lost since the start of the SNWL. The hosts are sitting pretty at the top with 30 points, with the visitors four adrift. Sundowns come into the match as favourites after they won all their ten matches, while TUT has two draws.
It will also be interesting to see how the solid defence of Sundowns – which has let in only five goals (TUT has conceded 16) will deal with the University side that is leading the scoring charts with 38 goals (Sundowns has scored three less). A win for the hosts will see them widen the gap with the rest of the chasers, while a win for TUT reduce the gap to just one point at the halfway stage of the season.
Other Much Anticipated #SNWL Matches
In another much-anticipated match of the weekend, fourth-placed Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies will be home to Coal City Wizards who are on position five on the table. Celtic has amassed 20 points so far, with Wizards three behind. This game will be played at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein with a later kickoff of 17h00.
In other matches, Limpopo outfit First Touch Academy (third position), will take on the University of Johannesburg (sixth position) at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. After ten matches, First Touch has 20 points, four behind TUT.
The University of the Western Cape will travel to KwaZulu Natal for a date with Durban Ladies at the UKZN Edgewood Campus. Kickoff is at 15h00. Starting at the same time is the clash between hosts Golden Ladies vs Tsunami Queens at the Montshiwa Stadium, while bottom of the table Richmond Ladies will welcome Thunderbirds ladies at Umziwabantu Stadium.
There are no matches on Sunday.
