Momentum Proteas captain Suné Luus says the team will be focused on key areas in their performance when they take on England in the second ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final on Friday, 24 February 2023.
The South Africans progressed to the knockout stage of the global showpiece after a 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh on Tuesday evening.
Speaking at the team’s pre-match press conference on Thursday, 23 February, Luus touched on the areas they are aiming to improve.
“It’s always a great honour to be in a semi-final and I think it was hard work to get into the semi-final, so really proud of the girls.
“Yeah, I think we’re also searching for that perfect game where all three aspects of the game click together and work together nicely, so I think for tomorrow that’s definitely something we’re going to be focused on for the batting to work on our KPIs and, and for all those boxes to be ticked, as well as in the bowling and fielding departments,” she added.
When asked if the Proteas Women have been able to enjoy the tournament so far with the pressure of playing in front of a home crowd, Luus said: “Yeah, 100% I think if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing then then I don’t really see a reason why you’re doing it, so if we’ve 100% enjoyed the tournament I think being at home with a crowd especially I think they’ve been pushing us to keep going and keep enjoying it.
“I think that’s been the best part of it all and especially being home. Seeing all the people in the crowd it’s been very cool.”
The second semi-final will take place at Newlands Cricket Ground at 15h00 CAT!
