The SPAR South African Netball team start their biggest challenge to date in Adelaide on Sunday, when they play New Zealand in their opening match of the Quad Series against Australia, New Zealand and England.

Exciting news for netball fans is that Supersport will be showing all matches in the series, as well as the Fast5 series that follows.

Earlier this month, Supersport committed to televise all international matches involving the SPAR Proteas from 2013, as part of a campaign to put the biggest women’s sport in South Africa on a more professional footing.

The other three teams taking part in the Quad series are ranked first, second and third in the world, and South African netball fans will have a chance to revel in the speed, dexterity and skills of some of the best players in the world.

The first match involving South Africa will be shown on Sunday morning from 7.40am on Supersport6 and HD4. South Africa’s next match is against Australia in Newcastle on Wednesday October 17 at 11.35am, and the third is against England in Sydney at 7.05am on Sunday October 21. Details of the matches played in New Zealand will be released at a later stage.

Netball South Africa (NSA) President Mimi Mthethwa was delighted that South African fans would have an opportunity to see the national team in action against the best in the world.

“We know that the SPAR Proteas will rise to the occasion and play to the best of their abilities,” she said.

“It is important for their followers to be able to see how well they play, and also to be able to compare them to the very best. If we are going to grow netball and make it more professional, it is vital that South Africans should be able to see their team in action,” said Mthethwa.
